What is happening on September 2nd:

SEPTEMBER 2 OPEN CLASSROOMS!

You’re not even gone, and we’re planning the event to welcome you back! That should tell you something about how much we Y you! This year we’re adding a little extra warm welcome – beyond just posting class lists, our classroom teachers will actually be IN the classrooms to meet and greet students, parents and guardians from 3:15 pm to 4:40 pm before the Pizza Fest starts at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, September 2. This would be an excellent time to bring in school supplies so the kids don’t have to carry boxes and bags the first day of school, and the teachers will be ready and waiting!

SEPTEMBER 2 WELCOME BACK PIZZA!

Our incomparable PSO will sponsor a Family Pizza Fest on Wednesday, September 2, starting at 5:00 pm, just after the Open House. Pizza is usually a price per slice, but the cost is always kept as low as possible just to cover costs. That information will be coming home in a back to school mailing in late August, and will also be posted on our website.

What is on the distant horizon -

SEPTEMBER DATES

September 8, Tuesday - FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!
School Hours: 8:40 am to 3:10 pm

September 15, Tuesday - Vision and Hearing Screening

October 7 – 9, Wed-Friday - Fifth Grade Outdoor Education Camp

September Meetings times (3:15 to 5:00):

September Meeting Dates to Be Announced

The Habitat Club is an opportunity for 4th, 5th and 6th grade students to meet after school and learn more about what is needed in creating a native habitat environment at Westgate and
in their own backyards. Some of the meetings will be held at school in the habitat area (between the primary and intermediate playgrounds) and some times the meetings will entail a walk down to Yost Park to study an established habitat area.

Students will need to have a complete a permission slip each month to attend these meetings.

Kindergarten Registration

In order to register for kindergarten, your child must be 5 years old before August 31, 2009. Please give us a call if you have any questions.

Please contact the school office for more information at 425-431-7470.

BUS INFORMATION

Since there will be several changes to busing routes in the fall, our district Transportation Office will be working extra hard this summer to finalize details. Please be patient. You will receive that information directly from the Transportation Department by direct mail in late August. We will not have that information in our school offices, and we will not be able to answer questions about bus routes. If you have questions or concerns of an urgent nature, you may contact Transportation directly at 425-431-7230. Please know they will be working very hard, and that they will send the information to you as soon as it is finalized. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
