UPCOMING TEST ALERT!!

During WSLP week, study all of the verbs on your "Quia" Actividades (infinitivos) sheet - front on back (after learning that jugar means to play a game or a sport, you can ignore all of the sports stuff in the box.) You will have a test on what those verbs mean and about everything you've learned about gustar on Wed. & Thursday Feb. 13th & 14th. (But, we'll also have a class party on those days so it won't be all bad!)

Make someone's day! Val-Grams are coming! Great for your friends, crushes, brothers, sisters, parent(s) / guardian(s), teachers, office staff, custodians, etc.!

What are Val-Grams? Val-Grams are valentines (better than the boxed kind in stores) that you can buy from the Spanish Club. We deliver them (at school) to the people you buy them for ...and they can be anonymous if you wish. They are super fun and nice surprise!

Sale starts Tuesday, January 22nd from12:15-12:55 in the cafeteria. They will be on sale during lunch from 12:15-12:55 every day through February 12th. We will be handing them out Wednesday, Feb. 13th & Thursday Feb. 14th.

Regular Val-Grams are only 50 cents, and fancy ones with a balloon start at $3.00.

Don't foget about the...

30 hour credit project requirement!

Remember, in order to earn a credit in Spanish, you must complete a 30-hour credit project (above & beyond homework & time sheets) that extends your learning about Spanish / Spanish-speaking culture outside of the classroom. You will now be asked to turn in your credit project hours (yellow paper with squares on it) every Wed./Thursday along with your time sheet. If you haven't started, working on it during the break is a GREAT idea!

Due: End of May

End of 1st semester.
You must have taken all exams, have an overall grade greater than 80%, and have the minimum amount of pesos necessary in order to continue in this class.

17A Complete ONLY the 1st and 2nd sections of your "Use of Gustar" handout, page 17. It is VERY challenging...hopefully you can find someone to work with on it. Do NOT do anything under where it says "Write the correct form of gustar" please!

17B Complete the page "Gramática 12" with a lamp post on it. Again, this is very challenging (the bottom half, anyway). Try to work with someone on it.

17C Make a popsicle stick puppet for yourself. One side is happy, the other side is not so happy. Your "puppet" will have a head & a shirt but nothing else. Then, on a paper plate, draw what you like / love to do
& put the verb in Spanish somewhere on the plate.

VERY CAREFULLY cut a slit & put your puppet into your picture.

(So, for example, if you love to cook, draw a kitchen & write the verb "cocinar" on the plate.)

(Think about the examples you saw in class - extra credit for exemplary work.)

17D Work on your first time sheet for the 3rd quarter.

There are no actual grades given to students-all transcripts read either P or F. However, if grades are important to you, you can calculate your grade as follows: divide Pts. Rec’d by Pts worth to get a percentage. Round to the nearest whole number. 98-100% = A+   93-97 = A 90-92 = A- 88-89 = B+  83-87 = B 80-82 = B- (80%=lowest passing score).
