Classroom jobs today! Game Glyphs for starter had us practicing reading and following directions! We are learning how to do a line graph, even as we complete our birthday bar graphs. We're graphin' fools! We got our first directions for the Book Report Road Map and started serious reading of the book. 3rd graders took a district reading assessment. We learned who Groucho Marx was and watched a very old TV quiz show he was on. We had our first Steps to Respect lesson with Mrs. Bourriague. Our lesson was "Friendly Behavior is Respectful Behavior." Number fact: 5 baseball gloves can be made from one cow.

Finally we got to hear all the rest of our Groucho jokes. We are pretty funny. We are choosing Chief in Social Studies by listening and evaluating their speeches. We shared our "new" Muppets on the screen today. They are really cute, if we do say so ourselves! Congratulations, Patrick - 1st place in Cross Country! In class, we had two introductory CML problems to warm up for CML starting next week. We have finished our original limericks. Limericks are fun but harder than they look to write! Watch for them on our web site soon. Our teachers worked today, but we had the day to catch up with our reading!

Some of our Words for the Day this month: (Thank you, Emma:

ebony, hustle,

We're starting to think about our Autumn poems by reaching into our senses and adding to the Idea Bank. We're spending time to reflect on our year so far and set goals in preparation for parent conferences next week. In partners, we're doing some research on the skeleton on our classroom computers and making a "lifesize" model of the skeleton. We had the last session of Addition Thursday math today. Next week is the test.  Then  we will regroup again. Our Wolf Pride characteristic for the month is PRODUCTIVITY.

Conference days are flying by way too fast!   Bill Nye was on the big screen! Our book orders came, along with free copies of a Guinness Book of Records for each of us. A tree scientist, Ms. Reno, presented awesome information about these good friends.

Ms. Nelson is our guest teacher today and Friday.
