February 2/15

Today we finished and typed our 2-word poems. This is an example of start of one.

            Old hags

            Nag Mag

            With rags

Then we shared them with the class.

We shared pictures that we drew of Dictionopolis from the book. The Phantom Tollbooth. Dictionopolis sounds like a dictionary. The pictures were very creative.

Not too long ago we also did Modigliani art. You don’t know who he is. He is an artist who drew pictures of people with long necks.

Feb. 16;

Today in science, structures, we had to make a free standing structure out of 2 by 6 index cards and a 5 by 7 card. We could only use the material that we were given so it was a bit hard. I tried at least five times to make one hold up the tiles we were given. We had to make a chart of all the structures we will have.

In S. S. we are learning about Lewis and Clark. In this trip there are 4 different jobs, a Zoologist, Topographers, Indians affair experts and Botanists. Each week we have a journal entry in our journal. Tomorrow will have 2 more entries due.

Today we started reading the Phantom Tollbooth and we finished chapter 1. We are at when Milo is driving Dictionopolis. Our reflection is to draw what we think it looks

like.

Today we started Phantom Tollbooth. Mrs. Moline read us the first chapter of the book. It is about a boy, Milo, who is always bored. He found a package that had a tollbooth in it. Milo set the tollbooth up, got out his toy car and drove past, putting gin the toll booth. That is where we stopped. The first chapter just makes me want to read more and more and more! The book is very interesting because on the inside of the cover with places that have really odd names like “The Mountains of Ignorance” and “ The Forest of Sight” and “The Valley of Sound.”

Today we did two word poetry. I wrote a poem called Rich-n-Famous.

We are working on our 2-word poetry. We got about 15 minutes to start a rough draft. WE are supposed to create 3 poems. All of them have 16 lines and two words each.

Feb. 17

Today we shared our two-word poems. Mrs. Moline drew our classroom number out of a dish. Not too many people shared their poems but some did. I thought some were very good and they put a lot of effort in their poem.
