This disc is a result of a school community coming together to share their talents and lend a hand in support of the Meadowdale Elementary Music Program. Proceeds from the sale of this CD will help to purchase drums and marimbas for students to play in the Meadowdale Elementary Music Room. Each track features a classroom performance of an American folk tune that was selected by the students themselves-their selections reveal the wonderful spirit and character of each group and present a cross section of the vast wealth of traditional American music. These old tunes deserve new roots and surely received them here.
Many of the tunes feature sixth grade instrumentalists as well as back-up vocals by the Meadowdale Elementary Choir. The selections recorded by the first grade and Kindergarten classes are some of our favorite musical games and dances that we've enjoyed for years at Meadowdale. Be sure to check out the guest appearance of our very own terrific principal, Mr. K., tooting on the train whistle at the beginning of I've Been Working on the Railroad! We hope you enjoy listening, singing and playing along.
