FTP - PC
Connecting to the servers at ESD 189 requires the use of FTP, or File Transfer Protocol. This process will be used to transfer files between your computer and the web server at the ESD. FTP is simple using your web browser.
Open Internet Explorer. In the address bar, type the FTP url. This will start with: ftp:// rather than http://. The address for the ESD 189 server is ftp://staff.edmonds.wednet.edu. |

In the pop up window, type your username. Type your password. Click login. DO NOT check the boxes for Login Anonymously or Save Password! Now you will be inside your main website folder. |

Simply line up the server window (the one starting with ftp) and your website folder from your hard drive. Drag and drop your files back and forth, making sure you keep items in the correct places. Pay special attention to which screen is the server and which is your hard drive . You may want to get in the habit of always keeping the server window on one side of your screen, and the working website folder on the other. It’s easy to get these mixed up. |
