HEARING PROTECTION FOR MUSICIANS

Did you know?...

The "bad news" ... hearing damage (hearing loss and/or tinnitus (ringing ears)) is:

- most often the result of exposure to loud sounds, including
power tools, gunshots, machinery, sport vehicles, and LOUD MUSIC

- common among MUSICIANS

- can be progressive, developing slowly over time

- can occur suddenly, even after a single loud event (such as ONE loud concert)

- can be PERMANENT ... there are currently no effective treatments for sound-induced
hearing loss and tinnitus

But there's also "good news" ... damage to your hearing from loud sounds

CAN BE EASILY PREVENTED by

- wearing appropriate ear protection (earplugs)

- avoiding exposure to excessively loud sounds
