Our project is called, "How to make a difference".  In our classroom we are working on a service project that will make a difference in our community or world.  Through the process of finding agencies, writing letters, prioritizing information, discussing service, and selecting a project we are finding ways to help, and learn a long the way.  We have already participated in a few service projects, like working with residents at a nursing home almost every month, and donating our coins for a coin drive at school, now we want to do a project that we design.

Service learning is different from community service.  It is a combination of inquiry, problem based, critical thinking, civic, and cooperative learning activities.  Students are engaged in their own learning process and contribute to others' knowledge.  Service learning involves all learners in a process of learning and "making a difference".

This website's purpose is to offer information and resources for others to create and participate in their own service learning projects.

Our hope is that many classrooms participate in this great opportunity and experience it for themselves.
