Mr. Arnot

I have taught at MMS since 2000 and have worked with both 7th and 8th grade students in English and drama classes.  Currently I am teaching 8th grade English in the 30s wing.  Prior to teaching at Meadowdale, I taught special education at Mountlake Terrace High School.

I was born and raised in the Puget Sound region.  After graduating from Mariner High School in 1985, I undertook a two year enlistment in the Navy under a program entitled the “Navy Sea-College Fund”.  In this program, I was obligated to serve for two years while earning money for college.  My duty assignment was an Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (operating aircraft arresting gear equipment) on the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) based in Norfolk, VA.  In addition to gaining a rich experience through traveling to new places and working with a diverse group of individuals, I also met my wife Patty.  Upon returning to the Seattle area, I completed my Bachelor’s degree at the University of Washington. Immediately after, I completed a Master of Education degree through Western Washington University.

After a busy day at work, I look forward to returning home to spend time with my family: Patty, my young daughter Ashley, and our dog, a chocolate Lab who answers to “Rusty” and believes he is human.   My interests are wide and varied; in fact, some would agree that I need to simplify!  However, the most popular ones at the moment are cruising in the family yacht, skiing, traveling, utilizing technology, and watching live music.   I am an enthusiastic person who loves to experience and learn new things which I hope will rub off on my students.  I hope they look forward as I do to developing their skills and talents during these formative middle school years.
