Dear Colleagues:

The Edmonds School District is committed to student learning. Student learning is the "North Star" which we use to reference our decisions and actions. We are the caring adults who are working to achieve this student learning goal; it is our shared responsibility. Student learning is our reason for being here; it is the work we do and given the impact it has on young people, it is so much more than just a job. Thank you for your service in this most important endeavor of reaching our goal.

It is critical that the actions of teachers in classrooms are aligned with the Curriculum Frameworks. When each of us implement our part of the curriculum with students we are adding value to them. Then when students come to us from previous grades or go on to the next step in the system, they are academically stronger, better prepared, and more capable of learning the things we want them to know and be able to perform. This approach results in higher levels of achievement and we better accomplish our shared mission of student learning.

We need you to be creative in how you teach and we need you to evaluate student learning to make sure that instruction is effective and that students are learning. Thank you for giving it your heart and bringing better alignment to maximize the power of the curriculum for all students.
