    PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Purpose: The program is designed to assist classroom teachers and other certificated staff during the beginning years of their career. Through a focused, standards referenced induction program new staff will have the opportunity to become grounded in the Edmonds District culture and refine their teaching and other professional skills.

    Mentors and Mentees
  • A trained mentor will be matched with all new certificated staff with less than 180 combined days of experience. The mentor will provide instructional support through observations, feedback, and mentor/mentee team attendance at required mentoring professional development experiences. In the Year 2 Program, new certificated staff with 180 to 360 days of professional experience will continue to work on instructional growth goals established with the help of their first year mentor. The activities needed to accomplish these goals will be supported by program funding contingent on state funds availability.
  • Refer to Mentor and Mentee Agreements for Responsibilities and Stipend Amounts

  • Professional Certification
  • Starting September 1, 2000, teachers with a Residency Certificate must comply with the new requirements for Professional Certification. The program will inform and assist teachers in beginning this process.
