Course Description

AP World History is a course designed to challenge highly motivated students interested in learning world history from a global perspective. It emphasizes history since 1450, and especially looks at the interactions between nations, cultures and peoples and the consequences of those contacts. It also looks at the global impact of ideas and technology, and the consequences of change. This is an exciting, rigorous course, designed to prepare students to take the Advanced Placement World History exam. Students who choose to take this class should expect considerable challenging reading, writing, and discussion activities. Skills necessary to prepare students for the exam for the college level work will be developed. This course replaces 10 th grade honors World Civilization and is open to students in the 10 th grade or higher, with a teacher recommendation.
