Course Description |
While this course is intended to prepare the student for the examination leading to the IB certificate, any student who would like the challenge of a rigorous chemistry course is welcome. On completion of this course, the student should be prepared to take the Standard Level IB Chemistry exam. The Higher Level IB Chemistry Exam would require additional study in the IB Inorganic Chemistry course. Content: The IB curriculum emphasizes higher levels of analysis and critical thinking, applied to chemical facts, concepts and student-generated laboratory data. This course will cover the IB core topics of chemical bonding, organic functional groups, organic reactions and spectroscopic techniques. Two IB options will be discussed at length: human biochemistry, and fuels and energy. |
