Course Description |
Biotechnology is a year long class that permits students to use current technology to learn science by doing. Why wait to see the future? The Biotech class provides an opportunity to all students to explore your interests and gain a glimpse of your future in a professional career. The Biotechnology program will give you a competitive advantage and help prepare you for careers in all medical, technical and professional fields. The tools, strategies, and skills you will develop are being used in technical schools and research labs in local universities, biotech companies and medical centers. The class focuses on “hand-on” learning and experience with modern techniques/equipment and is an active collaboration between 2 and 4 year colleges, industry and government agencies. Washington State is one of the leading medical, technical and biotechnology centers in the world and the demand for a trained workforce will continue to increase for the 160+ companies located within the state. This program offers a solid background in a combination of academic and laboratory skills in molecular biology, genetic, recombinant DNA and protein techniques. Biotechnology at LHS is a chance to explore your career interests today, to do science research that matters today, to connect with programs and jobs in the Seattle area now, and prepare yourself for what lies ahead for you tomorrow. |
