Course Description |
This is the first of the two-part AP offering for English. It includes the study of American literature and emphasizes writing effectively in the expository, analytical and argumentative as well as personal and reflective modes. Students will read rich and complex texts and communicate effectively as mature readers, and write about a wide range of topics from personal experience to public policy to imaginative literature. This course will follow the prescribed Advanced Placement curriculum. Students will read many different American literature titles such as: The Awakening, The Great Gatsby, The Invisible Man, A Lesson Before Dying . College credit may be awarded to those who earn qualifying scores on the AP Literature and Composition Exam. |
