Course Description |
This class is designed to introduce students to three of Shakespeare's most famous plays. We begin with a study of Shakespeare's life and times, and quickly jump into one of Shakespeare's most famous comedies, As You Like It, followed by the action-packed history play Henry IV, Part One, featuring Shakespeare's greatest comic creation, Sir John Falstaff, and wrap it up with The Merry Wives of Windsor (a comedy also featuring Sir John Falstaff). We read and write sonnets, act scenes, and write essays on a college prep level. Students need no acting experience or skill. Translate, recite, act, analyze, and write about Shakespeare's texts; as a final project, work in a group to create a 17-minute video production of a Shakespeare play your group reads outside of class, including two 30-second commercials. |
