Happy New Year!

It’s hard to believe that it is already 2009!  As we near the half-way point in the school year, our staff is working hard to assess student growth, develop meaningful lessons and insure learning in all areas.  We appreciate, as always, family partnerships as we work together to prepare students for the future.

January through March are traditionally times of good learning.  Teachers know the students well, the evenings are long so students are inside with time daily for reading and homework, we’re far past the beginning of the year and not yet looking forward to summer!  As educators, we can settle in and provide great opportunities for learning and we encourage families to make time to talk with your children about school and current projects and units of study.

We also encourage your involvement in school sponsored activities!  On January 22 our PTA and Spruce PE teacher Mr. Craig will host PE Night as one of our ever popular family fun nights.  ELL families will enjoy an International Potluck Dinner on January 27, band and orchestra have scheduled winter performances on January 21.  We look forward to a family Reading Night in early March and hope to see you at any and all school activities!  Thanks for your involvement at Spruce.  Together, we can create a wonderful learning community.
