Library Activity

We were fairly busy in the Library for the 3rd trimester of 1999, as the report below shows. Some of the decline is seen in "classes served" due to testing and 3/4 periods being taken up by Entry.

  1st trimester 2nd trimester 3rd trimester
Checkouts 474 404 327
Drop in students 360 392 401
Classes served 58 74 38

We finished the year with a plus in money since "Pooh" took $73.60 from donations. I tried to purchase books especially appealing to teens with these funds, including Reviving Ophelia and Ophelia Speaks, the latest Pulitzer Prize book Marion Zimmer Bradley short stories, the latest Stephen King and Dean Kooontz books.
Other books you might be interested in:
The Color of Water: A Black man's tribute to his mother.
Wait Until Next Year: A memoir of growing up in the 50's and the influence of baseball.
Medicine: A history of healing.
I Was Amelia Earhart
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens.
Career Choices.
Slaves and Slavery.
We also had a windfall the last week of school when a friend of SLHS donated about 50 paperback books. Many of them I will keep (some good sci-fi) and some of them I will trade with friendly second-hand book seller. Also, Karol's move was profitable in the library in books, videos, and reusable blank cassette tapes.
On a sad note we lost 4 videos this year plus an Alphasmart (#10).
