Martha Lake News for December 8-12

Well, all I can say this morning is BRRRRRR!

I hope everyone is managing to stay warm and safe. Please make sure you watch the news or listen to the radio for any school changes for the Edmonds School District this week.

Today (Monday) is a 2 hour late start. That means that morning Kindergarten students do not come to school. Buses will pick the kids up two hours later than their normal pick up time, but they are on their emergency routes so the stop location may be different. That information was previously sent home with the students, or it can be found on the district web site at: www.edmonds.wednet.edu

Tuesday, Dec.16th and Wednesday, Dec. 17th
Our sixth graders will open their businesses at Marketplace in the school gym. This is like a giant craft sale where the 6th graders sell products to earn money for their overnight Urban Adventure field trip. The hours on Tuesday will be from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. More information about Marketplace can be found on our school web site.
I hope everyone has a chance to come in and go shopping to help support these little entrepreneurs!

Our music teacher Mrs. Niven, is collecting old 2008 calendars that have any sort of art work on them for a project she will be doing next year. She will place a box outside the music room door if you would like to drop off your old calendar for her.

Looking Ahead:
Winter Break begins next Monday, December 22nd – January 2nd.
We will see your students back at school on Monday, January 5th.

Kindergarten registration for the 2009-2010 school year will be on Monday, January 12th, at 10:00 a.m. Registration packets will be available at the District Information Fair on Saturday, January 10th at Lynnwood High School from 9:00-Noon, or at the Martha Lake office beginning January 12th. The process for Kindergarten registration for Full Day will be different this year. Names will be taken from those who register between January 12th and February 20th and are interested in the full day program and we will put them into a lottery drawing for the Full Day class. The drawing will be on February 23rd and those selected for the Full Day class will be notified that day. We have decided that a lottery is necessary now because there is more interest in our Full Day program than we can accommodate.

I want to thank everyone who came by our office and picked a student off of our Giving Tree. All of the tags have been taken now, and I just really want to say how much we appreciate your help and thoughtfulness. If you have chosen a tag, please bring in the wrapped gifts by this Wednesday so that Mr. Chicatelli can get them delivered to the families by the end of the week.

I want to wish everyone a wonderful holiday, and a great long and relaxing Winter Break.

Enjoy!
