Happy Monday!
This is bus rider week, so we encourage all assigned bus riders to make sure to ride the bus on Monday, Oct. 13, through Friday, Oct. 17. That’s when drivers will count each student
who rides the bus in the morning and each student who rides the kindergarten bus
at midday.
These rider numbers determine the amount of funding our Transportation
Department receives from the State of Washington. Already, we use local levy
dollars (about $4 million last year) to backfill the gap in transportation
funding because the state’s formula does not cover actual costs.
The levy dollars also directly fund classroom expenses, such as curriculum and salaries.
So by ensuring all assigned bus riders are on the bus during the count
week, our District can recoup the maximum amount of transportation funding to
which we are entitled and preserve more dollars for the classroom.

Our 6th grade students will be taking the Healthy Youth Survey tomorrow, Oct. 14th.
Student picture day is this Friday, Oct. 17th. I also encourage all volunteers to stop by during regular school hours and have a free photo taken for their volunteer I.D. badges.
Shannon Bjornson is in need of more volunteers to help count Fundraiser money this Friday, Oct.17th at 9:30. Please let me know if you are available to help with this.
If you have not returned your Emergency Contact Form yet, please do so ASAP. The primary and intermediate classroom who returns all their emergency forms first, will win a popcorn party!
We are in need of more volunteers for the PTA Harvest Festival on Oct. 24th. Please contact Mary Christie at kchritie4@verizon.net if you can help out with either the set-up, food sales, game supervision, or clean-up.
The PTA is providing a dinner for staff member who have late evening conferences on Oct. 28th. Kama Gorman is planning this event, and would love a few volunteers to provide 5-6 crock pots full of soup, 4-5 salads, breads and 3-4 desserts. All hot goods do have to be in crock pots. Please contact Kama at grace4kama@msn.com.
