Martha Lake News of the week

Hello!

I would like to welcome back all our returning Martha Lake Families and introduce myself to our new families. My name is Annette Gahan and I am the Volunteer Coordinator at Martha Lake Elementary.

As part of my job, I send out weekly e-mails to our families with information about upcoming events at our school and about volunteer opportunities that we have.

I hope that you will find these e-mails informative and a quick and easy way to stay updated and connected to Martha Lake.

I am currently processing many volunteer forms that have already been turned in to me, and encourage you to fill them out at the beginning of the school year if you think you may at any time like to volunteer in any way at our school. It is required by the Edmonds School District that you fill out a Washington State Patrol background check each school year. You can find all the necessary forms in the back of the Volunteer Handbook that was sent home with all our students the first week of school. We love and appreciate all our volunteers, and Martha Lake is fortunate to have many wonderful parents that help us in so many different ways.

The first PTA General Meeting is this Thursday, September 18th in the library at 7:00 p.m.. Childcare will be provided in the gym, and we encourage all families to come and meet your PTA Board, share any ideas or concerns you may have for the school year. There will even be door prizes! We hope you can make it.

This Friday, September 19th there is NO SCHOOL so the staff can participate in a Professional Development Day. Enjoy your three day weekend.

The Scholastic Book Fair will be in our library Sept. 22nd-25th. It will be open during the day, and in the evening on Curriculum nights.

It is a tradition for the Martha Lake PTA to host a fun Harvest Festival at the end of October. If you are interested on being part of this year’s planning committee, please contact Mary Christie at 425-776-3967, or myself.

The Entertainment Book sales continue on through Sept. 26th. This book is a great way to save some money and also makes a great gift.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments at 425-431-1751.

Sincerely,

Annette Gahan
Volunteer Coordinator
