October 12-16

With the weather predicted to turn to rain this week, I want to send a plea to all our families to please anticipate longer drop off and pick up times in our parking lot and to plan accordingly.

We are still having many, many tardy students each morning, and will now start having those who are frequently late sit on the bench at recess.  I want to remind everyone of our two other drop off/pick up locations, the Martha Lake Baptist Church on Larch Way and the north field location. These locations will allow you to get in and out faster, and hopefully get the students into the classroom on time.

Please remember that our start time is 8:40, which is when the students need to be in their classrooms. One more parking lot reminder, please do not attempt to turn left onto Larch Way when the crossing guards are present. This is slowing down our ability to get cars out in a timely manner. Thank you so much for everyone’s cooperation and understanding with this challenge that we are all faced with!

Thank you to everyone who coordinated and participated in our PTA Jog-a-Thon fundraiser and auction. The Jog-a-Thon raised over $15,000 and the auction $2,000. We had 276 participants and our PTA will give out 199 T-shirts, 40 movie passes, 7 i-pods, and a stay at the Great Wolf Lodge for prizes.

The PTA still needs to sell 117 more Entertainment Books. They are a great value at $20.00 each, and we will receive $10.00 from each book sold.

Tuesday, October 13th – 9:50 a.m. State wide emergency lockdown drill. If you are trying to enter the building during this time all outside doors will be locked until the drill ends.

Please check your students back pack today for the Family Emergency Update Form. It is very important that you verify the information or make any necessary changes and return the form to your student’s teacher no later than Friday, Oct. 16th.

Wednesday, October 14th – parenting group with Mr. Chicatelli in the library from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.

Friday, October 16th – Individual picture day. Picture order forms have been sent home with students. If you are a volunteer, please stop by anytime during school hours to get a photo taken for your free volunteer I.D. card.

Saturday, October 17th – Adopt-an-Area grounds work party from 9:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. Please bring your favorite garden tools and gloves and help weed and trim our school grounds. It is because of our hard working volunteers, that our school is able to remain a pesticide and herbicide free school.

Dr. Nick Brossoit will be meeting with parents from the NE Quad at Alderwood Middle School Wed., Oct 21 at 7:00PM. He will be discussing the important Maintenance and Operations Levy Renewal which is up for a vote Feb. 9. This is also a great time for parents to ask any questions. We hope many parents will be able to join him!

October 26th – 30th is conference week and all students will be dismissed at 11:40 a.m. each day so teachers can conduct their conferences.

October 30th – PTA Harvest Festival
