Good Morning!
Welcome to my first Martha Lake e-newsletter of the new school year! These e-mails are designed to give you quick information about the weekly and monthly happenings at our school. If you are no longer a parent at our school and would like to be removed from my e-mail list, please let me know so I can update my list.
I would like to send a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has been so cooperative and calm in our parking lot the first week of school! This was a new situation for all of us, and everyone’s flexibility and patience has been greatly appreciated by our volunteers and staff. I know that each week things will go more and more smoothly if we can all continue to smile, stay positive and remember that safety is what we are all striving for.
I would also like to thank the many volunteers who have been helping in the three new parking and drop off areas. We absolutely could not have had thing go as well as they did the first week without you!
Monday – September 14th
Entertainment Books will be sent home. Each book costs $20.00 and payment can be sent in to your child’s teacher or the office.
Tuesday – September 15th we will begin vision and hearing testing
Wednesday – September 16th we will have a district wide earthquake drill at 10:15 a.m.. If you are in the building at that time you will need to drop and cover and then evacuate the building to the field. Please check in with a staff member once you are on the field and identify yourself as a volunteer since we have to account for everyone during any drill or emergency situation.
Thursday – September 17th is the first PTA general meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the library
Looking ahead:
Wednesday – September 30th - PTA Jog-A-Thon Fundraiser. If you would like to volunteer with this event, please contact Shane Hazard at 425-239-1896 or shazard@comcast.net. Information about this event will go home this week with Take Home Tuesday.
If you are planning on volunteering this year in any capacity, I would like to encourage you to fill out and turn in the volunteer forms now. These forms can be found in the back of the Volunteer Handbook that you received last week. I will only be able to process these forms on a limited basis, so if they are turned in now, then you will be ready for that field trip you may want to go on next May!
All volunteers must sign in at the office and put on a name tag before going down the hallway. Also, please remember to sign out when leaving the building so that we won’t spend time looking for you in the event of an emergency.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at 425-431-1751 or at gahana@edmonds.wednet.edu
I hope you find these e-mail helpful! Have a great week,
Annette Gahan
