Completing Photoshop Photo-Realistic Shadows Project
- Complete directions from MacAddict project
handout- BUT with this WARNING...be
sure to save a .psd file that keeps all layers before you save as a JPEG.
- Find a suitable photograph on the internet
to utilize as an usual background for your character. Check pixel dimensions
to ensure resolution is good- minimum 600 + pixels for width
- Download (Save image as...) web image
to your folder.
- Open photograph in Photoshop Elements.
- Open your Shadow project. You will now
have 2 Photoshop files open at the same time.
- You can merge/down (combined) the two
layers that contain the character and the shadow. Keep the white layer if
you wish, but discard any other layers such as the original background (character
with green background.)
- Combining the two layers, click on the
layer in the layers palette that is your character w/ shadow and drag &
drop it on top of the other photoshop file (background.)
- Resize, move and rotate the character
layer appropriately.
- Add a caption and a frame that suits
the style of your new picture. Save.

9. Create 2 final
images that are print-ready. One larger one for B&W and another
smaller one for color. Both should be saved as high-quality JPEGS
to ensure that your fonts print as they appear on-screen. *NOTE! You'll
need to change the file format from a Photoshop (.psd) to .jpg in the
"file type" box when doing your "save as". Keep
one final version of your project as a jpg file. |
- Print one copy in B&W. To print
the B&W you will need to uncheck "resample image". Below are
the image sizes for the B&W for printing to the networked printer and
the second version for turn in:
- B&W: 6" in width with height
proportial. (Constrain proportions) Save this to your folder on the server
AND print and turn in a copy. Include your name in the file!
- Color: 3.5" in width with a height
to match. (Constrain proportions). Save this one to the madronag4 /Public_file
/Photoshop 3.5" color folder on the server so I can print in color for
you.
Yipee! You're finished with this project!
Time to move on to the comic book!
