Learning to take Good Pictures

 

Producing a high-quality interactive yearbook requires quality content including pictures, captions, video, music and creative layout.  Before we start shooting lots of pictures and begin production on our dvd we must learn some basic tips and tricks to good photography.  The video links and tutorial activities below will help you gain some understanding about what makes a quality photography and how you can capture the best shots possible. Use this page as a guide to find the resources you need to get the answers for the worksheet. (Click and hold here to download) We'll read through some of the activities together, while others you'll do on your own. Save the photolog in your own folder on the server.

2. SHOT COMPOSITION (@ Daily Motion) or Kids in Action or Framing & Composition

 

3. TUTORIAL ONE: Kodak: Taking Great Pictures

Carefully read all the information and complete every activity in Tips for great pictures: Top 10 tips for great pictures at the Kodak web site. Go through all 8 items on the bullet list under "Taking Pictures". Pay particular attention to the interactive demos and "More advanced Techniques". Finish by going to the Inspirational Photo Stories section (on the navigation bar to the left) and completing the activity on the Photography Tutorial Log.Rule of Thirds:Complete the framing activity. Write 2-3 summary statements about the activity in your tutorial log.

 

4. INTERACTIVE: Cameras Interactive & Photo Interactive

Use the interactive camera models on these web sites to learn more about focusing and the relationship between aperture and shutter speed. Write a response in your photolog. *Reminder: On the Photo Interactive site you'll need to select the "shoot it" button to make the image appear for the first time. Then you may make your adjustments.

5. TUTORIAL TWO:  Student Curriculum in Photography

Follow the directions on the photolog to complete this field assignment. Be sure you thorougly read all the desciptions of the various types of photos you will be shooting in the field.
