Task: Add and manipulate graphics and text on a cube template from a downloadable MS Word file.

Purpose: An introduction to draw and paint features of MS Word, file management, and creative expression.

Function: Cubes will be used as name plates for the trimester to us put names with faces and learn a bit about one another.

Instructions: 

1)    Read all instructions.  After completely reading the instructions, download the MS Word Cube Template to your folder on the server. (MS Word .sit.hqx) (MS Word .doc file)  (AppleWorks.)

2)    Depending on how the download manager is setup, the cube document will open in MS Word, or youčll find the file after launching the application.

3)    There are six different requirements for the cube faces.

1.     name

2.     bullet list of at least three words or phrases that describe you

3.     clip art of your choice, preferably modified in some way.  Use images from MS Word, AppleWorks or the Internet.

4.     original design (something that you create in Word or import from another application such as Photoshop or AppleWorks.)

5.     digital picture of yourself

6.     your choice

4)    Check the cube example to see how each of the faces is oriented.  When you create the text or image for each box, be sure to rotate the object(s) appropriately. 

5)    After youčve completed the cube, print a copy in black & white prior to printing in color.  If youčre completely satisfied with the results, then print your final copy in color on photo paper.

6)    Cut the cube on all exterior lines.  Attach fishline to the inside corner of the cube, then fold and glue carefully. 

You may exceed the requirements and show off your skill and expertise with Word, AppleWorks, Photoshop or the Internet.  Get as creative and savvy as you can, but be sure to complete the project by the due date.  If you so desire, email the assignment to yourself and continue working at home.  Although this is a class assignment, you can do additional work at home.  Be prepared to help others or complete an extension project if you finish early.
