Madrona Media Project Choice List

 

1.     Explore iMovie.  Complete the tutorial to familiarize yourself with the program.  Learn how to import still images, make transitions, import downloaded sound files off the web and convert the movie to a Quicktime movie.  Try saving it for email to send to a friend.

2.    Explore iTunes.  Convert a song on a CD to a digital file such as a .wav or midi file.

3.     Design a poster for the tech lab that will be sent to the print shop.  It can be standard 81/2” x 11”.  The print shop can enlarge to our specifications.  The poster may cover any of the following areas, but check with Monica first. 

·      Lab rules

·      Search engines, organized by type

·      List of helpful web site

·      How to log on to the Madrona server (take screen shots)

 

 

4.   Check with other students to learn about their projects.  Learn a new skill such as web design, PowerPoint, AppleWorks posters, etc.

5.    Write an article for the Madrona Student newspaper.  Check with the newspaper staff.

6.    Put together your portfolio.  Include samples of all your work.  You may even have to do a ‘cold call” requesting work.

7.    With permission, take a tour of the school.  Is there an area you see that would benefit from some media work?  Make a proposal.

8.    Consider putting together a special presentation for an assembly or a morning announcement.  The possibilities are endless.

9.    Check out http://www.puzzlemaker.com/ and put together a practice spelling activity for a primary or intermediate center.  It should serve as a sample of yet another service the media class can offer.  Include this in your portfolio and share with a teacher.

10. Create business cards with Madrona Media logo and information, along with your name and email address.

11.   Fiddle with Photoshop to create your own unique artwork.  Start from scratch, combine images from the web or use your own digital photos (from scanner or camera).  Create a truly unique piece of work that illustrates your Photoshop skills.  Display your work on photo paper, create a banner or a poster, use iron-on-templates to create a t-shirt, apron, etc.

12.  Think ahead for the holidays.  (Any holiday)  Is there work you can do to share with the Madrona community?  Informative posters, PowerPoints, live-feed broadcasts, etc.

13.  Hook up a computer to cable connections to try out a digital broadcast.
