Project: Video Production
Back to DVD
Project
The most
significant piece of your DVD project will be the movie you shoot with a
digital camcorder and then edit with iMovie and export to iDVD. To ensure you have a thoughtful yet
entertaining movie, some preplanning is required. We will call it a ÔshortÕ
because due to time constraints and other requirements for the project you will
only be creating a 3-4 minute movie.
Your movie will contain titles, credits, video clips, stills shots,
audio, effects and transitions. You must work with at least one other person
and no more than two other people to create your video.
TASK:
- With a partner you will use
Kidspiration to brainstorm a concept/plan for your short movie. This Kidspiration web will become
part of your DVD project. It will be saved as a JPG and inserted into your
slideshow or even into the movie itself. Because of this it would make sense to put forth some
creative effort and use complimentary clipart/images and color. Use the writing (outline) view to
briefly describe different elements of your movie idea. There is no particular ÔwayÕ this
assignment should look, or any required length. Satisfactory effort will result in a satisfactory
grade, while exceptional effort will result in an exceptional grade!
- Turn in a hard copy of the
Kidspiration assignment today, both the web view and the writing
view. Be sure to save the
assignment in your folder on the server. Also, you will want to export the web and the writing
(outline) as JPG files. All group members should save copies of the
assignment in their folder on the server. Save to one studentÕs folder, then drag a copy of the
files to the desktop of the local computer. Log off server and log on as
the second student. Drag
files to the folder of the other student. Repeat if there are three members of the group.
- Sign up to use a digital
camera. You get one shot to
use the camera. DonÕt forget
to come pick it up!
- Rules for camera use:
- Camera (and its equipment) is to
be used by current technology students only.
- Neck strap must be worn.
- Camera is not to be left with
anyone else at anytime but a staff member or another group member.
- The person who picks up the
camera must return it.
- The camera is not to be used in
bathrooms or other such areas.
- Do not tape over anyone elseÕs
footage. (i.e.: donÕt rewind the tape)
- Remember your audience. Avoid profanity, etc.
- Please try to avoid shooting
tons of extra footage because I need to import all the clips.

follow.
