PFT Meeting Nov 15, 2007
In attendance: Diane Nelson, Mr. Lindblom, Molly O’Brien, Laura Barnes, Emily Moore, Christine Kolstoe, Marla Little, Mary Johann, Misty Lang
Elliott Bay orders arrive tomorrow at 1:00. Will get orders out tomorrow. If there are large orders, a reminder was sent out to students to have their orders picked up on Friday. There are misc drawings. MP3 player will be available for a misc drawing of those that sold 6 or more. They have 4 volunteers.
Elliott Bay will donate the $75 to cover the movie cost, Surfs Up and be our sponsor. Molly has done a flyer to post and can do book marks to send out with the Wednesday, 11/25 packet. It is on 11/30. Wants popcorn done by the time the movie starts. Try to sell most during the intermission. Doors open at 6:30, movie starts at 7:00. We will sell popcorn, water, pop, licorice. The kids liked the sour candies more than the chocolate. Michelle leant us huge ice chests last year. Last year we got ice from Starbucks. Mrs. Moore will order chairs tomorrow. She will also have the projection equipment ready, she also has extension cords. Laura will order the movie from Netflicks. Can Michelle help as she did the popcorn last time? She is the expert.
Entertainment Book – Nov 30 th is when the book sales end. Suggest sending home envelopes that have details on the entertainment books. If they would like to order they can, or they could call to get a book sample sent home. We have sold about 20 books so far without sending them home.
Need class list for each teacher, need a sticker with name, class, room number. Books are $20. Chris will make the commitment to communicate to teachers. Christine proposes that those teachers that want to do so, send the books home with the children. Chris will talk to Rita on how quickly they can get stickers made. Plan to send this out next Wednesday. Marla, Mrs. Moore, Mr. Lindstrom, Marla are available, kids could help tomorrow too. We could give the teachers a page of stickers with stuffed envelopes. Wed afternoon Chris needs to go on the intercom and say, reminder to sticker envelopes. Return orders by Wednesday, 11/28. Pizza, root beer float party. They only have one week to sell. Buy it, sell it, return it by Wednesday, 11/28. $10 book is no longer available.
Budget – We have made $8,640 on the Elliott Bay fund raiser this year. Last year we did a fun run, kind of last minute, and it did well. We could put more work in to it, communicate further ahead, etc. Last year’s Fun Run we made $2,250 and auctions made $1,340. Perhaps put raffle on the stage this year instead. Could have part of the exhibit close at different times. Silent auction must close before the other. Playground repairs - $500 can go away on the budget.
Per Chris, our playground equipment is still under warranty. By next spring the company hopes to have the bullet type thing will be reworked. The bridge is being reviewed as well. Warranty is for 10 years, we are in year 8.
Chris’ request on the handheld radio… would like to buy 10 and they are $250 a piece. The ones they have now do not work well. Chris could use some of his own budget to finance 4 for now and if we are able, would like us to re-evaluate at the end or the school year.
Assemblies down to $1,000 from $1,500.
So we are balanced now. Molly will email and updated cc out. Diane motions we accept the budget with the recommended changes. Laura seconds. Passed.
Mt Lake Terrace pool may be available on Fridays from 6 – 7. Mary will check in to it. As Lynnwood Pool is not available Friday’s.
Not planning to meet in December. Our next meeting on January 17. Feb 21, superintendent will be here.
Molly researched e-Script regarding Safeway club card. We could have people sign up, or they can go home and do on line.
Spirit Dayz (see handout)
Slave days - 6 th graders moving on ceremony would be funded by this. Students would have to volunteer.
Pink and denim day - or other charities. Money gets matched by Lee denim. Charity is breast cancer research.
School color day – would like to have a mascot. Could sell a small mascot for a small profit. Could sell at movie night, etc.
Team Sports Day – could have another activity in the gym. Try to get as many sports represented as possible. 3 winning class teams got picture in year book.
Hawaiian Days – hula, limbo etc.
Retro Days –
Would you still by my friend if I dressed like this Day ? –
Wacky Wednesday -
Maybe the week after WASL in the spring.
If do one day a month too. Black and Red days are on Friday’s.
Perhaps Spirit Week would be better than the one day a month. Staff would need to be in on it. Chris is going to collect ideas from them too. Laura can come to next staff meeting, 11/29 at 4:00 to present her ideas.
McTeachers night – at McDonalds, teachers sing the schools song “it starts with me” or the “I’m loving It” jingle when tips are received and 20% of all sold goes to the school. Can make $1500 to 2500. Would be a staff commitment. Principle sells pies in the lobby. If we could coordinate it with teachers, would be a great idea. Chris will ask if teachers are interested.
Marla – sent off box tops about $239 worth.
Tyson, Foster Farms, A+ – 24 cents a label. Need a flyer again an also for Cambells showing what we need.
We have 23,023 points in Campbell’s to spend. Mrs. Sellers hasn’t ordered yet.
CPC committee updated – Laura attended. About 40 – 50 attend. Working on election issue, encouraging people to vote. District calendar costs a lot and the district is looking at cutting costs. There will be a survey via a link on the website. Have black and white artwork, use lighter weight paper, have an online version. Money saved would go towards a more equitable websites for the schools.
Misty joined us today. Thanks Misty. Her email is .Hem
