Treasurer Report- Cookie Dough--$ 2,637.90_, included over $100 in donations. Review of bank balances, budget variances, taxes…Need to consider what charitable organizations to give to. Be careful about PACs we give to, eg. Citizens for Schools—not a standard PAC as it does not lobby congressmen. Chris recommends we consider supporting; funds cover printing and pizza for volunteers. Request was for $50 for the year. Mary moves that we donate $50 to Citizens for Schools, Laura 2nds, vote carried. Next year, maintenance and operations levy in fall. Clothes for Kids, will wait to decide how much, and the Food Bank will get a little more. Molly Obrien, Treasurer
Fundraising – Cookie Dough delivery, Friday April 10 th. Should be complete, question about churros being late (lots of churros ordered). Begin calling at 1 PM, or earlier if EB can email to Laura. Large orders not picked up by end of day will be stored by EB. We will not sign up for cookie dough sales for next year at the spring luncheon from EB.
Fun Run Thursday, May 28 th Mary will get envelope revised—estimated laps, as well as flat fee (will email out final version before send out), and Ronnie Pel’s company will print for $10 less than Staples. Laura has a print out from another school’s fun run, ideas about finish line tape. Chris will check with Albertson’s about water. Trudi has a pop-up sturdy canopy, and Molly has one—will see who can bring one to help keep off the sun or rain for Susan Sellers.
Family Fun Nights- Movie night is May 7 th. Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium vs. Nim’s Island. Looking at other options. Decide on title showing and other plans, volunteers needed for setup and cleanup, this will be our final Movie Night for the year.
Art Walk – Review/ compose letter to teachers regarding saving student art for the May event, review layout of art walk and voting for people choice awards, decide on prizes etc. During open house. Pizza for open house from school budget. “what’s the point” to show off the kid’s art, and for the parents to see the art at school. Will do voting and prizes. Could do something for each class. Customized picture frame for art that wins(?). Art framing coupons? This year can be a first step into art walk at the open house. Can add more next year based on reviews and what goes well with this. Only during the 1.5 hour open house. Celebration of the school. Letter to teachers about panels in the hallway, Laura. Prize of art-kits, display in the office. Diane concerned with art for each child, and too much in one hallway. Also, concern about getting enough art panels for the art.
Teacher Appreciation – Review plans for the week and number of volunteers needed for each day. Teacher appreciation page in the library—based on time for getting booklets done and binding. Will need some volunteer help in the library for this project. 2 volunteers needed per session through the week. Different times needed throughout the week.Letter to parents about appreciation stuff.

District News – review of upcoming public meetings held by the district regarding budget cuts. CPC meeting with Nick. Chris: Huge unknowns about budget—should know more about stimulus money, etc. Not a question of if we will cut, but how much. Reduce operation by $ 8-13 million. We are down to bare bones and not much can be cut. List of 27 items, now we are up to 25 items that will probably be cut. Teachers will probably be laid off, retirement is not going to adequately reduce the workforce. See the budget reduction ideas list provided by Chris. Also closing two schools—Woodway and Evergreen. Continued decline in enrollment. We will feel it, and may lose a teacher or two—still waiting for info.
Write the representatives—education is important. Legislature is making the decisions.
