What's Happening at Lynndale
Oct 1st-5th - International Walk to School Week
Lynndale will be participating in International Walk to School Week. We will have tables set up by the bike rack welcoming all walkers! Please walk safely and obey all safety rules!!!!!
Lynndale Active Living Program
Lynndale is pleased to announce the start of the Lynndale Active Living Program in October! The program has three dimensions:
Active Trek : Students walk or ride their bikes to school.
Families, if you live too far to walk or ride, consider driving within two or three blocks of the school and walking the rest of the way. Or, in reverse, walk to the bus stop instead of driving if that's your routine.
Active Start: Students are greeted at in the gym Weds, Thurs and Friday at 7:15am for 25 minutes of brain-starting, high-energy interaction. Parents must accompany their student(s) to the gym and sign them in.
Active Lunch Run/Walk Club: This program is a repeat from last year - intermediate students run or walk laps during lunch tracking the distance traveled. Feet tokens will be given on Fridays for every mile accomplished. WE REALLY NEED PARENT VOLUNTEERS / PARTICIPANTS WITH THIS PROGRAM!
Students will be given Active Living Log books to track their progress - they can collect stamps in the office for every day they participate in Active Trek or Active Start and redeem prizes for full log books.
Of course, utmost safety is encouraged and expected. Please use the appropriate level of supervision your child needs. Please make sure they are able to cross streets safely if they are walking / biking on their own.
We encourage parent participation - as a participating volunteer, you can track your own progress by keeping your own Active Living Log book, and help your child's school by providing supervision and behavioral modeling. Please call Johnna Stewart to volunteer 425 431-2758!
