Logging on to the Web Server from a PC

(Using FTP)

 

1.              In Internet Explorer, type the FTP url. This will start with:

ftp:// rather than http://

 

Type in your username@staff.edmonds.wednet.edu

The whole address will look like:

ftp://username@staff.edmonds.wednet.edu

 

 

ftp://username@staff.edmonds.wednet.du/

Do not type dent. This image needs to be updated!

 

2.              In the pop up window, retype your username.

3.              Type your password. Click login.  DO NOT check the boxes for Login Anonymously or Save Password!

 

 

 

Now you will be inside your main website folder.

 

 

 

4.              Simply line up the server window (the one starting with ftp) and your website folder from your hard drive. Drag and drop your files back and forth, making sure you keep items in the correct places. Pay special attention to which screen is the server and which is your hard drive . It’s easy to get these mixed up.  Get in the habit of always keeping the server window on one side of your screen, and the working website folder on the other.
