Please note:
There
are changes to our procedures for providing instructional video/DVDs through
the district central office.
These
changes are necessary due to redutions in personnel caused by the cuts made
to the budget for this school year.
Change
in procedures for checking out video/DVDs
- We can no longer honor advanced holds.
Please request video/DVDs within 5 working days of the date you want them.
Requests sent in advance may not be fulfilled.
- Video/DVDs will be sent out to the schools
weekly, not daily. To ensure that you receive your video/DVDs on the Friday,
please make your request by the Wednesday before.
- The check-out period for a video/DVD is
7 days. Please return video/DVDs to your librarian so they can be returned
to the ESC as soon as you are finished with them.
- We urge you to consider using United Streaming
for quality educational resources that you can download to your computer.
We would be happy to have someone show you how to search, save, and download
videos as well as how to use your computer and projector to show videos
in class. Check with your librarian for training or for a referral.
Why these changes are necessay
As you are aware, the district had to find
ways to reduce about $11 million from its budget for the current school year.
These reductions included loss of staffing in the Instructional Media Department.
Additionally, other positions at the ESC were eliminated and the work of these
people were moved to current personnel.
The Video/DVD Library services were moved
to Diane Martineau in Teaching and Learning. We no longer have the capacity
to provide the same level of service to the schools with these cuts. We know
that these changes will create difficulty for some teachers, but hopefully
by working together, we can still find ways to provide important resources
to students.
