The Running Eagles Club!
Tuesdays during lunch recess
Wow! We are off to a great start this year with the 1st-6th grade
running club called “The Running Eagles Club.” What is the “Running
Eagles Club?” Well it’s basically students, staff, parents, and everybody/anybody
willing to walk, jog, or run laps going around the Hazelwood school grounds
on Tuesdays during lunch recess.
Participants complete laps by following the “flight of the eagle” designated
by painted yellow eagles on the grounds around the school. For each
lap completed a participant receives a marker dot on the top of their hand.
At the end of recess participants report the number of laps completed /
dots on their hand to their teacher. The lap totals are kept on a chart
in the gymnasium. For every 10 laps completed a participant receives
a small foot, teenis shoe or runner token for their “Running Eagles Club”
key chain. So, if you see your child or other students walking around
Hazelwood sporting key chains with vibrant colored tokens you know they’re
members of the “Running Eagles Club.” If a participant completes
100 laps before the end of the school year they are part of the “Century
Club” and are invited to a party in the gym during the month of June
