Parent Volunteers are key to the success of our programs. Whether inside the classroom, participating in a school event or working in the office, you can make a big difference in the lives of everyone here at Hilltop Elementary.

We at Hilltop encourage all adults to be a part of our school.  Every year we are required to process a Washington State Patrol Request for Criminal History Child/Adult Abuse Information before volunteers are allowed to supervisor children.  Volunteers should contact the office to complete a new Washington State Patrol Request for the current year.

Wendy McCauley is the school's Volunteer Coordinator. You may contact her by phone at 431-7313, ext 2682 or by email below:

Parents (and even some Grandparents) volunteered over 3200 Hours in the 2006-2007 school year.

THANK YOU ALL!

For those who would like to assist outside the classroom, the following would be so helpful:

Health room
Recess supervision
Laminating
Run copies
Workroom (Replenish supplies)
Lunch Buddy
Play piano for chorus
Student Council
One-on-one with students
Office
After School tutoring

More good volunteers have been lost because of poor communication than for any other reason. Please don’t let this happen to you! You are an important part of the educational team and are asked to cooperate with the school staff in the following ways:

· A school is a place of business. Please make a time commitment that is really workable for you.
· Please sign in and sign out each time you come to school.
· Please wear your volunteer badge whenever you are working in the school.
· Please discuss student problems only with the teacher with whom you are     working.
· Please respect the confidentiality of anything you learn in the classroom. Children and their specific problems should not be discussed outside of school. Be professionally discreet. Never publicly discuss parents, children or    professionals.
· Please communicate your concern if you find that your volunteer assignment is not working out. Talk it over with the teacher, the principal, or the office manager.
· Please realize that your relationship to school personnel requires respect and confidence.
· Please recognize that your volunteer contribution sets a fine example of an interested and informed citizen helping to improve the community.
