Dear Hilltop Families,
The following is from the District Manager of
Instructional Technology:
The staff and students of Edmonds School District are very appreciative of the
support our community has shown by passing the 2004 Capital Levy for
Instructional Technology. Great things are happening in our schools. All
classrooms have Classroom Tech Stations, consisting of a laptop, a projector,
and a document camera. We have updated our network system and are now running
fiber to all our schools to provide faster connections to Internet resources.
All schools have mobile labs of 15 wireless laptops for student use, and we are
currently implementing our plan to provide student computers and other tools in
our classrooms. This year 100 classrooms have already received these additional
tools and next year another 160 classrooms will.
We'd like your input as we plan a renewal levy to build on this progress. By the
time these levy funds expire in 2008, we will have provided approximately 40% of
our classrooms with these student tech tools. Parents will have on-line access
to certain student information including report cards. With the '08 Levy, we'd
like to increase student access through providing:
Additional mobile labs
Additional student tech tools to our classrooms
Student email so they can communicate with their teachers and turn in work
electronically
Replacement of instructional laptops on a 5 year cycle.
We also recognize a need for all our district employees to have access to
up-to-date technology.
Please let us know how we can address your needs in this new plan.
What are we doing now that helps keep that connection between home and school?
In what other ways can technology help our families stay connected and help our
students be successful?
Please take a moment to complete the following short survey.

Riding the Bus:
I want to remind parents and students that a note is needed if a student is
going to ride home on a different bus. These notes should be signed and dated
and given to the classroom teacher or directly brought to the office. Students
are then to stop by the office at the end of the day to pick up the note. Upon
entering the bus, the note should then be given to the bus driver. With the bus
driver shortage and the increased chance of having a new driver, this note in
the office becomes even more important.
