Your student may be
eligible for early entrance into kindergarten or first
grade if:
the child's fifth (kindergarten) or sixth (first grade)*
birthday fall between September 1 and October 31, 2007.
The child successfully completes an evaluation by a
Washington State Certified School Psychologist or
Washington State Licensed Psychologist. The parent
schedules and pays for this evaluation. However, a free
district evaluation may be available to families who
provide proof of income and qualify for financial aid.
All information must be received by the Edmonds School
District no later than August 15.
Students granted early entrance must also successfully
complete a 25 school day evaluation period. The
principal, teacher and school psychologist will
determine if early entrance placement is appropriate for
your child, and may decide at any time during this
evaluation period that early entrance placement is not
appropriate for you child.
*Early entrance into first grade may also be granted if
the student successfully completes a kindergarten
program that meets Washington state basic education
program requirements, and was taught by a teacher with a
valid Washington state teaching certificate.
Please contact Shelley Roehl at 425-431-7176 if you
would like an early entrance packet.
