It is the beginning of your child's education, and for some of you, the first time you get to communicate with us. Here is the information you need to register your child for the upcoming Kindergarten year.

Who Can Register?

Children who are 5 years old by midnight on August 31, 2007 may be registered for kindergarten.

When does registration begin?
The school office will be open for registration
9 a.m. - 1 p.m. only beginning Monday, January 8, 2007.

What do I need to bring?
A copy of your child's birth certificate (issued by the county of birth)
Proof of residency (drivers license, utility bill, lease papers, mortgage paper, etc. - daycare addresses are not considered a home address)
Names & phone numbers of two emergency contacts
Proof of immunizations to date

What kindergarten programs are available?
Part-Day:
Kindergarten students attend school 5 days a week in either a morning or afternoon session.
Decisions are based on your geographic location.
Full-Day:
Kindergarten students attend school for a full school day 5 days a week. Parents pay tuition to help fund this program.
Please request a Full-Time Kindergarten Contract when you pick up your registration materials.

How much is tuition for the full day program?
Tuition for the 20076-08 school year will not exceed $3,050 (10 payments of approximately $305 each). The first payment is due as a deposit at the time of registration, and is needed to secure your spot in the full-day program.
Is financial aid available for the full-day program?
If you feel you may qualify for financial aid*, please request the Kindergarten Tuition Financial Aid Application with your registration materials. *Qualifying families usually meet free or reduced lunch criteria.

Your student may be eligible for early entrance into kindergarten or first grade if:
the child's fifth (kindergarten) or sixth (first grade)* birthday fall between September 1 and October 31, 2007.
The child successfully completes an evaluation by a Washington State Certified School Psychologist or Washington State Licensed Psychologist. The parent schedules and pays for this evaluation. However, a free district evaluation may be available to families who provide proof of income and qualify for financial aid.
All information must be received by the Edmonds School District no later than August 15.
Students granted early entrance must also successfully complete a 25 school day evaluation period. The principal, teacher and school psychologist will determine if early entrance placement is appropriate for your child, and may decide at any time during this evaluation period that early entrance placement is not appropriate for you child.
*Early entrance into first grade may also be granted if the student successfully completes a kindergarten program that meets Washington state basic education program requirements, and was taught by a teacher with a valid Washington state teaching certificate.
Please contact Shelley Roehl at 425-431-7176 if you would like an early entrance packet.
