We're really proud of the special programs and recess alternatives that we are able to offer the students at Hilltop!

Computer Club is open to all 4th, 5th & 6th grade students. It is a self-paced class (not games) and students will learn computer basics, Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Internet use. Space is limited and you must sign up to be a part of this club.

The advisor for the club is Wynnmarie Hinze.

Art Club meets on Thursdays from 3:30pm to 5:30pm and is an option for all students in grades one through six.

Under the direction of Mrs. Blackstone, concepts in many kinds of art from painting, sculpture, multimedia and drawing are all included.

Chorus is open to all 4th, 5th and 6th graders who would like to pursue their interest in singing in a large group. The group is formed in the fall and meets during noon recess. There are many performance opportunities throughout the year at school venues as well as holiday festivals.

The director of the Highlights is Kylene Ries, with Linda Babin as the pianist.

Whether is it about learning a new language or the ability to communicate with the hearing impaired, the ASL Club examines techniques and lessons in American Sign Language.

The teachers are Rachael Curry and Helen Rawlins and the advisor is Brandis Roundy.

Orchestra and Band programs are also offered at Hilltop. These groups perform annually at the Hilltop Arts Festivals and scheduled concerts.

There are separate bands and orchestras for the 5th grade and the 6th grade.

The bands are under the direction of Mr. Blosser and the orchestras are under the direction of Mrs. Loewen.

Make a move and work on strategies for Chess. Open for grades one through six, learn to play and practice games with schoolmates.

The advisor is Mrs. Seugnet Alberts-Dewar.

A variety of international dances are practiced and polished for public performance.  The Heritage Dance Group performs in places such as the Folklife Festival, Alderwood Mall, and other exciting locations.  Applications for participation are accepted in the fall and are available to all students in grades one through six. For more information, log onto www.hilltopheritagedancers.org

The library is open during recess times for students to come and read, check out resources and do related work.

Also, a special group of students work each year as Library Helpers under the direction of Mr. Snyder.

Boys have special interests in the books they read, and this club brings them together for discussion of books and literature.
The Window Room is open each recess.  Children may choose among a variety of activities.  Each week an art project is offered, i.e., stringing pasta for necklaces, origami, making valentines, etc.  Games, books, toys, building apparatus, drawing paper, color sheets, stencils, stamps, and puzzles are also for the children to expand on their imagination.  Students may also bring classroom work to complete.
