Every year Shoreline Community College hosts a silent competition providing ASL students the opportunity to engage with others using the ASL skills they have learned in the classroom.
EHRC students, Ashley Gunn, Apol Thomier, Indeah Thomier, Erin Beeson and Kaylee Jacobsen comprised the EHRC team this year. With much celebration they brought First place plaque home! Their team spirit, grace and skill was a sight to behold! The honorary plaque will reside at EHRC for the year!
The ASL bowl consists of teams of five players answering questions from judges in several categories, such as finger spelling, Deaf Culture, giving directions, visual gesture and math. Point values are determined by the judges and assigned to the difficulty level of the questions. Teams accumulate points by answering questions correctly. ASL students from high schools across the state participated in the event.
